Our Journey

Milestones That Define Us

What started as a commitment to reducing lumber waste has grown into a full-service pallet lifecycle operation serving businesses across the Central Valley and beyond. Here is how we got here.

2014

A Truck, a Yard, and a Mission

Stockton Pallet Co. was founded on Wigwam Drive in Stockton, California with a straightforward belief: used pallets deserve a second chance. Starting with a single flatbed truck and a small lot, we began rescuing pallets from local warehouses and distribution centers that would have otherwise ended up in landfills. Those early days were hands-on — sorting, repairing, and redelivering pallets one load at a time. Our founder saw waste where others saw trash, and that perspective became our foundation.

2015

First Major Warehouse Partnership

Within our first full year of operation, we secured our first recurring partnership with a major distribution warehouse in the Central Valley. This contract proved the model: businesses wanted a reliable partner who could take surplus pallets off their hands and supply reconditioned inventory on demand. That single partnership taught us how to scale our operations while maintaining personalized service — a lesson that still guides us today.

2016

Expanding Our Yard & Repair Operations

Demand for quality used pallets grew faster than we expected. We expanded our yard footprint significantly, invested in dedicated sorting and repair stations, and brought on experienced pallet graders. This allowed us to process thousands of pallets each week while maintaining the quality standards our customers relied on. We introduced formal grading categories — A, B, and C — giving buyers transparency and confidence in every purchase.

2017

Fleet Expansion & Route Network

To better serve our growing customer base, we invested in additional trucks and trailers, building out a dedicated transportation fleet. Regular delivery and pickup routes were established across the greater Stockton area, Sacramento, Modesto, and the wider Central Valley. Same-day and next-day service became our standard, not a premium add-on. Our logistics coordinators began managing scheduled programs for high-volume clients.

2018

Zero-Waste Recycling Program Launched

We made a bold commitment: zero pallets to landfill. We developed a comprehensive recycling program that turns even the most damaged pallets into usable material — mulch, biomass fuel, and reclaimed lumber. Our processing yard was redesigned around the principle that every board, nail, and wood chip has value. This milestone pushed our recycling rate above 99%, a figure we have maintained every year since.

2019

ISPM-15 Compliance & Heat Treatment Capability

As our client base expanded to include businesses shipping internationally, we invested in ISPM-15 compliance infrastructure. We added heat treatment capability to our facility, allowing us to provide certified pallets for export shipments. This opened entirely new markets for us and for our customers, who could now source both domestic and export-ready pallets from a single supplier.

2020

Navigating the Supply Chain Crisis

When the pandemic disrupted global supply chains, the demand for pallets surged to unprecedented levels. New pallet prices skyrocketed, and suddenly, used pallets went from a cost-saving alternative to a critical necessity. We ramped up operations, extended hours, and worked closely with our partners to ensure continuity of supply. That year tested every part of our business — and proved that our model was resilient.

2021

Statewide Reach Across California

With a proven track record and expanded fleet, we extended our service area to cover nearly all of California. From the Bay Area to the southern Central Valley, from the Sacramento metro to the foothills, our trucks now serve businesses statewide. We also began serving customers in northern Nevada, establishing cross-state logistics capabilities for the first time.

2023

Community & Environmental Milestones

We hit a major milestone: over 1 million pallets diverted from landfills since our founding. To celebrate, we launched a community tree planting initiative in partnership with local Stockton organizations, planting hundreds of trees across the city. We also formalized our partnership with several local nonprofits, donating reclaimed lumber for community building projects and sponsoring youth programs.

Today

Full-Lifecycle Pallet Partner

Stockton Pallet Co. is now a full-service pallet lifecycle company. We buy surplus pallets, sell reconditioned inventory, recycle what cannot be reused, and transport it all with our own fleet. Our Stockton facility processes tens of thousands of pallets monthly, and we partner with businesses of every size — from local manufacturers to regional distribution centers to Fortune 500 companies. The mission has not changed: give every pallet the longest, most useful life possible.

Our Mission

Why We Exist

Our mission is simple but ambitious: extend the useful life of every pallet we touch and keep reusable lumber out of landfills. We exist to prove that the pallet industry can be both profitable and deeply sustainable. Every decision we make — from how we grade inventory to how we route our trucks — is guided by that principle.

We believe that used pallets are not waste. They are a resource, and treating them as such is not just good for the planet — it's good for our customers' bottom lines. The average pallet can be reused 10 to 15 times before it needs to be recycled into other products. Most pallets get discarded after just 2 or 3 uses. That gap represents an enormous economic and environmental opportunity — and closing it is our core purpose.

Every year, hundreds of millions of pallets are produced in the United States. Millions more are discarded unnecessarily. At Stockton Pallet Co., we are working to change that equation — one truckload at a time, one partnership at a time, one reclaimed board at a time.

Mission Statement

“To extend the useful life of every pallet we touch, keep reusable lumber out of landfills, and deliver exceptional value to our customers through honest, sustainable, full-lifecycle pallet management.”

Our Vision

“A California where no pallet ends up in a landfill, where every business has access to affordable, high-quality reconditioned pallets, and where the pallet industry leads in environmental stewardship.”

We envision a future where circular economy principles are the default in the pallet industry — not the exception. Where buying used pallets is the smart choice, not the compromise. Where every wood fiber is valued and every truck runs full.

Looking Forward

Our Vision for the Future

The pallet industry is enormous — over 2 billion pallets are in circulation in the United States at any given time. Yet too many of those pallets are treated as disposable. Our vision is to change that mindset at scale.

We are investing in better processing equipment, expanding our transportation network, and building technology systems that make it easier than ever for businesses to manage their pallet programs sustainably. In the years ahead, we plan to expand our service footprint across the Western United States while maintaining the personal, hands-on service that has defined us from day one.

Our goal is not to be the biggest pallet company — it is to be the most trusted, the most sustainable, and the most reliable partner in the markets we serve.

Our Facility

The Stockton Yard

Located at 2622 Wigwam Drive in Stockton, California, our facility is purpose-built for high-volume pallet processing, repair, and distribution. It is the operational heart of everything we do.

Processing Area

Our main processing area is where incoming pallets are received, sorted, graded, and routed for repair or recycling. Dedicated zones for each pallet grade keep operations organized and efficient. Experienced graders inspect every pallet by hand, assigning A, B, or C ratings based on structural integrity, board condition, and cosmetic appearance. Pallets that do not meet reuse standards are sent immediately to our recycling line.

Repair & Reconditioning

Our repair stations are equipped with pneumatic nail guns, board saws, and a steady supply of replacement lumber. Skilled repair technicians can fix damaged stringers, replace broken deck boards, and reinforce weak points — extending a pallet's life by years. We repair thousands of pallets each week, turning what would be recycling-grade material into sellable, functional inventory. Our repair rate saves our customers significant money compared to buying new.

Loading & Transportation

Our loading area accommodates multiple trucks simultaneously, with forklift operators staging and loading pallets for outbound deliveries throughout the day. Our fleet of flatbed trucks and trailers is maintained on-site, ensuring rapid deployment for pickups and deliveries. Dedicated staging areas for each route and customer reduce loading time and prevent errors. GPS tracking on all vehicles provides real-time visibility.

Recycling & Material Recovery

Pallets that cannot be repaired or reused are broken down for material recovery. Good lumber is reclaimed for future repairs. Damaged wood is processed into mulch, wood chips, or biomass fuel. Nails and metal fasteners are collected and recycled separately. This zero-waste approach means that every component of every pallet finds a second use — nothing goes to the landfill. Our recycling infrastructure includes a wood grinder, nail magnet systems, and dedicated material storage bays.

Inventory Storage & Management

Our yard maintains a deep inventory of ready-to-ship pallets in all standard sizes and grades. Pallets are organized by size, grade, and customer allocation, making it possible to fulfill orders quickly — often the same day they are placed. Inventory levels are monitored continuously, and we proactively source material to prevent stockouts. Seasonal demand fluctuations are anticipated and planned for months in advance, ensuring reliable availability year-round.

Certifications & Compliance

Standards We Uphold

Our commitment to quality and environmental responsibility is backed by industry certifications, regulatory compliance, and documented processes.

International Standard

ISPM-15 Compliant

Our facility is equipped for ISPM-15 heat treatment, the international standard for wood packaging materials used in international trade. Pallets treated at our facility meet the phytosanitary requirements for export to any country that adheres to ISPM-15 regulations. Each treated pallet is stamped with the official compliance mark.

Environmental

EPA Compliance

We operate in full compliance with all Environmental Protection Agency regulations regarding wood waste processing, material storage, and emissions. Our recycling processes are designed to minimize environmental impact at every stage. Regular audits and documentation ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state environmental laws.

Workplace Safety

OSHA Safety Standards

Worker safety is non-negotiable. Our facility complies with all OSHA standards for material handling, equipment operation, and workplace safety. All employees receive regular safety training, and our yard is equipped with proper safety signage, protective equipment stations, and emergency response protocols.

State Compliance

California Environmental Quality

As a California-based operation, we adhere to some of the strictest environmental regulations in the nation. From air quality standards to waste management protocols, our operations are designed to meet and exceed California's rigorous environmental requirements. We view these regulations not as burdens, but as guides for responsible operation.

Sustainability

Sustainable Forestry Awareness

While we primarily deal in used and reclaimed pallets, we are committed to supporting responsible forestry practices throughout the supply chain. When we do source new lumber for repairs, we prioritize suppliers who practice sustainable harvesting and responsible land management.

Quality Assurance

Quality Management System

We maintain documented quality control processes for grading, repair, and inspection. Every pallet that leaves our yard has been evaluated against our internal standards. Our grading system — A, B, and C — is consistently applied by trained graders, and we stand behind the accuracy of our representations.

Community Involvement

Rooted in Stockton

Stockton is more than our mailing address — it is our home. We are invested in the health, growth, and prosperity of this community, and we show it through action, not just words.

Tree Planting Initiative

In partnership with local environmental organizations, we have sponsored the planting of hundreds of trees across Stockton neighborhoods. For every million pallets we divert from landfills, we plant a new grove. Trees clean the air, provide shade, and build the kind of community our team is proud to be part of.

Local Hiring & Workforce Development

We hire locally and prioritize candidates from the Stockton area. For many of our employees, Stockton Pallet was their first full-time job — and we take that responsibility seriously. We provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and a clear path for advancement. Several of our current team leads and supervisors started as entry-level yard workers.

Lumber Donations for Community Projects

Reclaimed lumber from our recycling operations is donated to local nonprofits and community groups for building projects — garden beds, benches, fencing, playground equipment, and more. Rather than grinding every board into mulch, we set aside usable material for organizations that can put it to good use.

Youth & Education Sponsorships

We sponsor local youth sports teams, school programs, and educational initiatives in the Stockton area. We believe that investing in the next generation is one of the most important things a local business can do. Our sponsorships support athletics, STEM programs, and vocational training that gives young people practical skills.

Sustainability

Environmental Responsibility

Sustainability is not a department at Stockton Pallet Co. — it is the foundation of our entire business model. Every pallet we reclaim, repair, and recirculate is a pallet that does not need to be manufactured from new lumber. Every board we recycle is a board that stays out of a landfill.

The pallet industry has a massive environmental footprint. Approximately 7 billion board feet of hardwood and softwood lumber go into pallet production each year in the United States alone. By extending the life of existing pallets and recycling materials at end-of-life, we directly reduce the demand for new lumber — preserving forests, reducing transportation emissions, and cutting waste.

Our zero-landfill commitment means that every piece of material that enters our yard leaves as either a functional pallet, usable lumber, mulch, biomass fuel, or recycled metal. We track our diversion rates rigorously and report them transparently. We are proud of our 99%+ recycling rate, and we work every day to maintain it.

99%+

Material Recycling Rate

Virtually nothing from our yard ends up in a landfill. Wood, metal, and other materials are reclaimed and repurposed.

10-15x

Average Pallet Reuse Cycles

Through our repair and reconditioning program, a single pallet can be reused 10 to 15 times before being recycled.

0

How We Lead

Leadership Principles

The principles that guide how we make decisions, treat our team, and serve our customers. These are the non-negotiables that define how Stockton Pallet Co. operates at every level.

01

Lead from the Yard

Our leaders are not in corner offices — they are on the yard floor, understanding the work firsthand. Leadership at Stockton Pallet means being willing to do any job you ask someone else to do. This hands-on approach ensures that decisions are grounded in operational reality, not theory.

02

Own the Outcome

When something goes wrong, we own it. When a delivery is late, a grade is wrong, or a customer is unhappy, we take full responsibility and fix it fast. Blame-shifting is not part of our vocabulary. Every team member is empowered to solve problems on the spot without waiting for permission.

03

Think Long-Term

We make decisions for the long haul, not for short-term gain. That means investing in our facility, our people, and our processes even when the payoff is not immediate. It means choosing the right customer relationship over the quick sale. Our best partnerships are measured in years, not transactions.

04

Simplify Relentlessly

Complexity is the enemy of reliability. We constantly look for ways to simplify our processes, reduce unnecessary steps, and make things easier for our customers and our team. If a process is confusing, we redesign it. If paperwork is redundant, we eliminate it.

05

Respect Every Role

The yard worker who sorts pallets is just as important as the person who closes the sale. Every role in our operation is essential, and every person deserves respect, fair treatment, and a voice. This principle creates a culture where people want to stay and grow with the company.

06

Never Stop Improving

Good enough is not good enough. We set high standards and then look for ways to exceed them. Every month, we review our operations for opportunities to improve — faster processing, better quality, safer conditions, happier customers. Complacency is the only real threat to our business.
